1917 Mfg. Unknown, Moxie Blue Horsemobile Tin Litho Display

1917 Mfg. Unknown, Moxie Blue Horsemobile Tin Litho Display

Rare tin litho promotional item sponsored by the Moxie soft drink company. Patented after the full size Moxie Horsemobile and patented by Frank Archer in 1917 (see last photo). Consists of a tin die cut auto with embedded whit horse, rider and four rotating faux spoke wheels.

When these were initially received by a vendor nearly 100 years ago flat and unfolded thereby requiring slight assembly. The "bend here" instructions can easily be seen on the underside of the "axles". They were not considered an actual toy, but would've been displayed in a soda fountain, or possibly a grocer.

The 1916 copyright date and 1917 patent date are lithoed on both side just in front, and above the short running board. Cars with either a red body (1916), or blue body (1917) were produced. The blue is supposed to be more difficult to find, but it's been my experience finding any color in decent condition is difficult. I believe there were two different drivers as well. Grades excellent+ to near mint.

Size: 8½" long, 6½" tall, 2½" wide (wheels).
